New Year Resolutions 2010
By Donna Dawson
We all seem to use this time of year to make
new resolutions, new goals and new plans.
Why? A new start perhaps, a new happiness
that there is a new year ahead of us to make
a difference. There are as many reasons as
there are people so I am going to share with
you some of mine.
To see more of this beautiful country and to
always respect it. I have lived here just
over three years and am astounded at its
beauty but am saddened to see so many areas
where people just do not see its beauty and
use it as a refuse dump. Not only is this an
eyesore for tourists, but it is also prime
breeding grounds. It all starts with one
person…
To help more animals in distress – two
excellent places that could use your help
are a shelter in Arraijan (
maripily29@hotmail.com ) and Spay
Panama. These groups are so in need of your
support and I know how easy it is to forget
about them when you are tucked away inside
your gated communities – don’t forget about
them. It is not their fault that there so
many strays, but with proper education those
numbers can be reduced and those living will
have a better quality of life. You can
access Spay/Panama at
http://www.spaypanama.org/
To support more local
growers because we know that if we do,
not only do we get good food, but we
support and help the country grow. Eat
more fresh fruit and vegetables that are
grown by people who love their land and
only want to improve their own lives.
Support them by visiting their markets.
Don’t forget their special events that
take place too!..
It all happens with one person at a
time. While you are out and about,
please take the time to also enjoy the
flora that surrounds you – just imagine
what this country would be like if it
didn’t exist.
